Wrestling Analysis - I always love doing wrestling analysis. I don't know why. Perhaps, it's because I like the idea of finding relationships between people's rankings and how you can extract conclusions to their preferences. For instance, take djcnote's top 100 matches writeup that he did over at F4W: http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/7899/After about an hour, I got Mookieghana's patented random wrestling statistical analysisROH: 43 matches NOAH: 14 matches WWE: 13 matches TNA: 5 matches WXW: 5 matches NJPW: 4 matches PWG: 3 matches DRAGON GATE: 2 matches IWA: MS: 2 matches ZERO-1: 2 matches AJPW: 1 matches BJW: 1 matches FIP: 1 matches KENSUKE OFFICE: 1 matches PWE: 1 matches SENDAI: 1 matches SUZUKI: 1 matches 6 European matches (I believe - WXW and PWE are Euro?), 27 Japanese ma...

The XMAS Report - Puppy is dashing around the living room chasing her PETSMART 50% LOUD SQUEAKY THINGEE (fig. 1). She is pleased! Thus, I am pleased. And I just ate a yummy chocolate covered potato chip from Crookston, MN (fig 2.) That is also pleasing!Despite being off from work since Tuesday afternoon, I haven't written much lately because the internet at home has been very goofy. So, I finally got so frustrated that I called today and they recommended that I bring it to the Comcast center in St. Paul and switch it out. (Had I been more clever, I would have gone to the location with the same zipcode as me instead of driving across the Mississippi river.) This ended up being a bit of a test for young Chris because I didn't have internet, Alissa was gone in the Aztek (and hence had the tom-tom) and the call center guy only gave me an address. Luckily, the phone book has maps and I was finally able to locate 10 River Park Plaza. I returned home with a new RCA Cable Modem (fig. 3) whi...

Attack of the Female Pop Stars! - This morning I slept in until about 10 (after letting Mel out once at her normal 630 wakeup). I called Adam and we agreed to meet at The Original Pancake House (this one in Eden Prairie) and I ran outside to stop Mel from barking at the neighbor's son installing an exterior window. (I didn't put on socks, which meant I went to breakfast with bare ankles. Oh my temerity!) When I finally got there around 11:10 AM, I discovered that even the rich people love their pancakes so I had to put "MOOKIE" on the list for a 35 minute wait. I waited at the Dunn Bros. nearby for Adam to park at the library and join me for our discussion of Monday's sketches. (What? Yes, I am doing another pro bono publico - is there a con bono anonymouso? - gig for the Marketing Department as we, the improvisers of Marketing Business Analytics, use scripts to pretend to be brands of products such as TUBE FEEDS and ONCOLOGY FOOD. I should start d...

I shoveled my walk this morning at 630 AM. - It's funny because the last two books I've read have been about Chicago & Democracy. So, this morning when I heard that Governor Rod Blagojevich of Illinois was charged corruption, I had to laugh. HOW DARE HE BESMERCH THE GOOD NAME OF CHICAGO POLITICS~! (Yes, the capital is Springfield - but he was born, raised and lives in Chicago - though there is a executive mansion that I believe he also occupies for part of the year.) One of Fareed Zakaria's first statements is that in 1900, no country was really allowing all male & female citizens of legal voting age (regardless of religion, land ownership or race) to participate in elections. Chicago in the 19th century certainly had some especially egregious cases of fraud, corruption and voter intimidation.Your rock music for the day: Elbow - Grounds for Divorce. It's about getting drunk at the pub. (The cocktail is called, "Grounds for Divorce".) It's from an ...

"And to think I got all dressed up in my GOLDMAN SLACKS!" - Thanksgiving in Rochester was fun. Alissa & I spent a lot of time with my family - especially playing with my three nieces (Mara-5, Cecelia-3, Josephine-6 mo). It was nice to see everyone and have some yummy meals (though the City Diner/Mykonos appears to again be closed; no doubt a new mafia front - Polish? Italian? - will open it up again to replace the lost Russians/Greek.)I read a great book, The Devil in the White City, about the 1893 World's Fair and the story of Chicago's serial killer Dr. H. H. Holmes. I also started Fareed Zakaria's 2003 book "Future of Freedom: Illiberal Democracy at Home and Abroad". I'm not a political science major like Alissa so a lot of these discussions are fresh to me. I first saw Zakaria when he spoke ...

Wii Music - Has anyone played Wii Music? I want to know whether it rocks or stinks. I'm a casual Wii user. I love Wii Sports. Wii Fit was alright but I was a little disappointed with the limited variety. I liked my Dragon Warrior game. And Wii Play is cool. I haven't played any of the new Mario Wii games. Wii MarioKart looks fun too....

Minnesota Breakfast Review: Uptown Bar & Cafe - Adam & I decided to have breakfast together this morning. After our normal chaotic start (I took ten more minutes to find a parking spot after I realized the downtown meters don't take dimes, we were actually at two different Uptown Cafes - he was at the crowded New Uptown Cafe) we sat down to have something to eat. Caramel Roll: GOOD (why the butter?! Same deal with Pannekoeken Huis?)Coffee: TERRIBLE (I've had Same-Pot-All-Day Oil Change Coffee that tasted better)Ham & Cheddar Skillet: Giant Ham chunks (too big in my book), good cheese melt, messy with bread & eggs, food was slightly cold.Overall: Try somewhere else for breakfast. Lunch might be better with their Hot Dogs!Watching some G4 "The Road Warrior" = AWESOME CONCEPTIONS. "Enter the Dragon" was on earlier; kung-fu movies were so much different in the 70s. They are reportedly remaking Old Boy -- with Will Smith? I don't think it'll work. They have to find someone capable o...

Vote & Molt~! - On election day, I arrived at Arlington High School by 6:40 AM, about twenty minutes before the polls opened. The line was already almost a hundred people deep and while I stood there waiting until seven o'clock, almost a hundred more people arrived. I was pretty surprised when I quickly made it into the gym. This voting location actually serves two precincts - and the vast majority of the people in front of me went to rockin' the right table while I broke left. (Side question: If you're not allowed to wear political buttons/hats/shirts inside the polling place, what about the students? They were walking around with Obama gear on their bookbags.)I was surprised that in the Senate Race (Coleman/Franken) and Congressional Races (Paulsen/Madia) and (Bachmann/Tinklenberg) - all three (currently) went Republican. I would have bet against that trifecta pretty hardily. I am disappointed with the result in CD6, especially when Bob Anderson is listed as an "Independence" cand...

Halloween~! - This year, I dusted off the trusty Grimmace Costume for Halloween. It's origin was in the One-Acts at the University of Rochester where Alissa played the purple one (and coughed up felt each night after the show).I've determined that McDonalds has left this character to die a slow demise. My generation will sadly be the last to truly know the man sometimes speculated as a "large, walking, talking taste-bud". At the party, I was mistaken for everything from a California Raisin to some kind of mutant Teletubby. That does not rock.(Yes, I spell my character with two Ms to keep it separate from the one M licensed character.)...

Sum Dim Some Lose - I've got a new "Pushing Daisies" episode on the TiVo to watch tonight after I finish writing this entry. Mel was home all day today and had two accidents - one in the basement and one in front of the door - which is unusual for her. I wonder if there was some aggrevating factors such as Dogs walking down the street.Rehearsal tonight included a long discussion about race, stereotypes, characters, playing to the truth and personal experiences. I (and Adam) was immediately reminded of some of the conversations that we had back at UR while we were in IBTL. I even found the very thread which contains some of my thoughts from 2003. I think my view has continued to evolve since then, but it's interesting to have a touchpoint from 5 years ago which I can look at.(Mel is now sticking her head under the various Couch cushions which is pretty funny. Silly Rock.)...

Mookie?s ?What?s Going On?? Blog - Adam linked me to an entertaining Ebert review of ?Tru Loved?. I?m probably a bigger fan of Ebert?s essays about film rather than the movies themselves. In college, I was a 35mm projectionist and that was probably the first time in my life that I ever watched the same film more than once in a single day. Since then, I?ve grown a lot and there have been several instances where I?ve watched the same television program (such as the latest House episode) or movie (documentary King of Kong - rocking good film) a second time that same day if I was with someone new.Alissa has been working a lot so I?ve been home with Meliora most evenings. She?s growing up big ? she?s almost 40 pounds and runs extremely quickly. Sometimes, when I know neither of us will be home for several hours, we?ll take to doggy day care and she will be exhausted. We did that on Monday and for the first tim...

An Expanded Version... - I've been pretty tired lately. It's been a whirlwind month. At the end of September, my buddy Mark from Rochester came out to visit for several days. I took some time off work and took him around the Twin Cities to the obligatory Mall of America & Stevie Ray's Improv. About a week after that, my parents came up and stayed with us for a week. I took some more time off work and took them around the Twin Cities including the Mall of America & Stevie Ray's Improv. It was a lot of fun having them in town and Meliora greatly enjoyed spending time with more people! Additionally, I've been teaching a fun Improv II class each Tuesday evening. On Thursday, Alissa & I woke up around 5 AM in order for her to make it to an early-morning Blaine event. I headed into work and had a day of straight meetings from 8 AM to 5 PM. I went home and continued working on my presentation until about a little before Midnight.
